Autumn in Ischia: the island waiting to be discovered
Ischia, an authentic island, to be savoured slowly
Autumn in Ischia has a quiet, authentic charm. Far from the summer crowds, the island shows its most intimate side. And it is precisely in this season that a stay at Villa Olivia Residence or at Le Dimore offers the chance to experience the island differently — closer to nature and to the slower rhythm of autumn.
It is the perfect time to explore the hiking trails that wind through woods and hills, opening onto breathtaking views of the sea. From the garden of Villa Olivia you can even see a fumarole field: in the more humid autumn air, the fumaroles become more visible, reminding us of the island’s volcanic nature. From here, it is easy to start gentle walks for those who enjoy immersing themselves in nature.
Near Le Dimore there is also an access to the trails leading up to Mount Epomeo: a fascinating route, but one that is suitable only for experienced hikers or to be taken with a guide.
Autumn also means freedom in the kitchen: the island’s fresh, local products — from fish to seasonal vegetables — offer unique and intense flavours. At both Le Dimore and Villa Olivia, every studio and apartment has its own fully equipped kitchenette, so you can prepare a simple meal yourself or head out to discover the local trattorias.
And if the weather is not at its best? No problem: autumn invites you to explore the island’s more intimate side. You can enjoy shopping in the local boutiques, visit the Museum of Pithecusae or the many churches rich in history and tradition, or simply relax in a café with a delicious Ischitan pastry filled with custard and sour cherry.
The days grow shorter, but this only makes the sunsets even more evocative: from the terrace of Le Dimore, the horizon glows with reds and golds, while at Villa Olivia the garden is bathed in a calm golden light that invites you to relax.
Autumn also brings with it special events like “Andar per Cantine”, when historic wine cellars open their doors for tastings of wines and local products. It is also the season for mushroom hunting in the woods at the foot of Mount Epomeo: porcini and other varieties that later appear in the tasty seasonal menus of island restaurants.
This is autumn in Ischia: an authentic island, to be savoured slowly. And in the welcoming spaces of Villa Olivia and Le Dimore, you will find the perfect place to live it not as a tourist, but as a guest.
